A note of appeal from my friend, Autumn. Autumn has a friend named Marilyn… Please read on…
Marilyn, an elder aritst, teacher, activist, and member of the Ife Tayo community had all of her items moved to the basement of her artist apartment building in the West Village just previous to Sandy because a water mane broke and damaged her apartment. No one realized what would happen in the days to come.
When Sandy hit the basement was flooded to the ceiling. soaking all of her items.
After being without power for two weeks, she began single handedly beginning to clear her items out the basement.
At this point she still has an overwhelming amount of bags to clear out and furniture to be moved and she really needs to return to work.
What is needed?
1) 10-15 Volunteers to help move items and sort on Thursday, November, 22 any time you are available between 9am-6pm. We need both men and women as some of the items are very heavy.
2) Food. If you have any food donations groceries or cooked food you can drop off to Marilyn during this stressful time as she has been heavily consumed with clearing items and has missed a lot of work.
3) Money donations to help with groceries.
4) A space to store some of her items temporarily.
If you are able to come volunteer, donate, or help in any way please email me directly and I will send the info.
